Goal: To recognize the importance of physician-led patient care teams and the
contribution ALL make to patient care.
- Every
session there are 30 to 50 bills filed to expand the scope of practice of
non-physician practitioners — from direct access to independent
prescribing.
- Only
physicians can render a medical diagnosis. It’s called the practice of
medicine.
- Scope
issues are emotional and hyperbolic….but always come down to patient
safety, practitioner education, training, and skill set.
- TMA
remains intent on reining in licensing boards who expand scope through
rule, not legislation
